I'm an emerging visual artist living and working in New Orleans, La. I graduated from NOCCA Riverfront in 2009 and left the city to attend School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University, earning a BFA in 2013. After college I moved back to NOLA to appreciate, learn, and grow from the richness of culture, food, music, and art that keeps my creativity flowing strong.

What do you love the most about creating art in New Orleans? What particular part of your immediate environment, in your neighborhood specifically influences your work?
The city's energy, growth, and struggle rub off on me and my art practice. A lot of my visual inspiration comes from walking or skateboarding around the city, very simple things. I also have a strong interest in sea level rise and how New Orleans will have to confront the water in the near future. My current body of work explores the rise of urban farming in post-Katrina New Orleans, investigating the history of landscape painting, while grounded in larger issues around climate change, resilience, breaking racial, social, economic boundaries, food deserts, and self-sustainability.
Describe your creative process. Are there any rituals or rites of passage you exercise before you begin a new piece?
I use a lot of tape and layers in a screen printing type style until I come to a comfortable stopping point.
