I was born in the USSR in 1960. I graduated from college and worked for a few years as an architect in my Ukrainian hometown. In 1989, I came to Philadelphia as a political refugee, and went back to school. I graduated from the architectural program at Temple University in 1992, and I've been working as an architect ever since.
My professional work was unable to satisfy my creative urge. I wanted to express myself freely, without constraints of the budget and building codes. I attended private painting classes for seven years and worked in my own studio in Philadelphia for eleven years. It was there that I developed my own unique painting style.
I have lived and worked in New Orleans from 2011 till 2016. I had my studio at Studio Inferno, 3000 Royal Street in the Bywater. In 2016, I had to move to San Francisco, where I live and work nowadays. But I left my heart in New Orleans, and I hope to come back, one day.

Questions & Answers
Describe your art in three words.
Creating a world
Describe yourself in one word.
Creator
What do you love the most about creating art in New Orleans? What particular part of your immediate environment, in your neighborhood specifically influences your work?
What I love the most is the diversity of New Orleans. I'm in love with the French Quarter, where I used to live for two years.
Describe your creative process. Are there any rituals or rites of passage you exercise before you begin a new piece?I create complex, multi-layered compositions. They are dynamic, yet balanced. I imagine a story or a world behind each painting. But it is only one possible story, each viewer will imagine his or her own. I hope my canvases provide enough visual clues to discover an infinite amount about these imaginary worlds which are hidden inside my paintings.
Where do you draw inspiration? From everywhere, mostly from nature and art
Who are your artistic influences or gurus?
Philip Taaffe, Beatriz Milhazes, Bill Komoski
In New Orleans, art and music go hand in hand. What type of music, band or song lyric best describes your work?
Jazz is my favorite music.
Where can we find you when you are not creating art?
On the streets and parks, jogging, biking or site-seeing.
What is your favorite time of day/day of the week/month of the year?
Weekends are the most productive time for me. I can submerge into my creative process and see the results right away.

I love piglets and collect their images.
