This painting was made from a photograph taken by Connor McManus at Point Reyes National Seashore at sunset. Through the choppy waves and the boat wakes, the incoming blue night sky is reflected with the orange and yellow white hues of the setting sun. A very light gel transfer of the image was mounted on a birch wood panel frame, then slowly built up with increasingly thicker layers of oil paint, until the texture of the waves stuck out from the canvas board. The painting has a different character under different kinds of lights due to the shadows from the raised impasto-paint on the wave edges.

Follow this artistI'm a New Orleans based artist known for photo-realistic drawings and paintings of people. Raised in Lafayette, LA, I focused on music for much of my young life, only finding my passion for drawing in late high school and early college. After moving back to New Orleans in 2013, I began to focus more seriously on honing my artistic abilities and taking on commissions wherever I could find them. While I'm still developing my craft, I have become fascinated with the intimate and magical process of bringing a person's character to life. I currently live and work out of my house/studio in Mid City, New Orleans.
