Poor Monkey Lounge outside of Clarkesdale, near Merigold MS, on the Blues Trail, I painted this directly from the photo I took of it on my pilgrimage there. The rural juke joint played an integral role in the development of the blues. This one is one of very few that has survived into the 21st century. This triptych work of art is created from custom birch panels gilded in 24K gold with working brass hinges and correctly places Poor Monkey Lounge in perspective as it is, in the open flat fields of the Mississippi Delta.
