Original painting by Heather Bird Harris
The myth of unlimited resources,
an exaggerated promise
penned to investors
pretending to be righteous.
It must've been so beautiful, before.
Now it's entwined with sadness
as we savor the parts we love and dab the untreated scars,
aware that it won't last and was never promised.
Flowering vines,
taking the shape of a house
while destroying it within -
weathered,
watered,
green, still.
