Our journey together as a couple and as artistic partners began in 2007 when we met and fell in love. Chad Ridgeway was an American metal sculptor and chef living and working in Paris, and Teri Walker was a Canadian glassblower and painter living in New Orleans. Suddenly the possibilities seemed endless for us to create sculptures together and combine all our skills to reflect our whimsical way of life. Teri Walker graduated from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto Canada followed by Rhode Island School of Design (Masters) and has been an artist in residence at Torontos Harbourfront Studios and the New Orleans School of Glassworks

We continue to travel regularly between Canada and the United states teaching and making art in both countries.

We are fascinated by all the glass shapes we can make on the end of a blowpipe at 2000°F. Combining these shapes with welded and forged metal allows us a greated scale and detail.

Describe your art in three words. Whimsical, Unique, Colorful.

Describe yourself in one word. Creative.

What do you love the most about creating art in New Orleans? What particular part of your immediate environment, or in your neighborhood, specifically influences your work? We live in the Marigny/Bywater neighborhood, which is filled with artists, musicians, circus people, second line paraders, sexy marching bands, Mardi Gras Indians, great live music and great food. We live between the French Quarter and the Mississippi river and the swamp. We can see pelicans, egrets, herons, as well as feathered costumed people any time of the year. We can be as creative as we want here, and we love it.

Describe your creative process. Are there any rituals or rites of passage you exercise before you begin a new piece? We are constantly drawing, sketching, and photographing our life and friends, so our inspiration is endless.

Where do you draw inspiration? We are inspired by birds, animals, costumes, Mardi Gras Indians, totem poles, masks, food, skulls and other art. When we travel, we collect masks directly from the artists that make them. Studying other cultures and their ceremonies helps us recognize what is so special about ours.

Who are your artistic influences, or gurus? William Morris (glass blower), Karen Willinbrink, Martin Yanicky, Rolling Thunder, Joseph Campbell, and Deepak Chopra.

In New Orleans, art and music go hand in hand. What type of music, band or song lyric best describes your work? Ray Bonneville, "I am the Big Easy", a fellow Canadian wrote this love song about the strength and resilience of New Orleans, and I love it!

Where can we find you when you are not creating art? Feeding the ducks with our baby boy at City Park.

What is your favorite time of day/day of the week/month of the year? Halloween.

What is something people don’t know about you? A fun fact. We are honored to create the Crystal Feathers and the glass awards for the Mardi Gras Indian hall of fame.
