My interest in photography began with and grew alongside my interest in travel. I spent most of my adult life on the road, traveling through more than 50 countries. During this time, my camera has served as a means of exploration as well as its justification. Without designs, I documented my journeys and allowed my craft to grow organically through experimentation and error. I have never formally studied photography. I'm based in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans.

Describe yourself in one word. Passionate.

What do you love the most about creating art in New Orleans? What particular part of your immediate environment, in your neighborhood specifically influences your work? I love the people and culture of New Orleans. They breathe life into me and all my work.

Describe your creative process. Are there any rituals or rites of passage you exercise before you begin a new piece? What I will get on any given day of shooting is a total mystery. Perhaps that's why I'm so drawn to photography - the unpredictability, the mystery. I throw myself into a situation and simply be inside it, reacting and creating compositions very quickly as things occur all around me.

Where do you draw inspiration? From people and culture, especially here in New Orleans.

Who are your artistic influences or gurus? Josef Koudelka and Woodie Guthrie.

Where can we find you when you are not creating art? I'm usually always creating art. It is difficult to shut off. I take my camera almost everywhere.
